For the purposes of navigating the Log Driver’s Waltz, there are TWO route files you should have downloaded. It is advised that you have some practice using your navigation devices before heading out on the route especially if you haven’t navigated on trails and backcountry roads before. GPS navigation is a must. It would be very hard to follow the route exactly with just a paper map. However, carrying a paper map as a backup is not a bad idea.
The route can be updated or modified at any time so it's best to review the route in advance for your trip planning purposes, but download files these shortly before your ride so you have the most up-to-date route.
Navigating with a GPS Device
Scroll to the map above and click on "send to device" and follow the instructions. Use this map/file to navigate as Garmins and Wahoos do not handle large files well and will not show Points of Interest.

If downloading a .gpx file do not click on Reduce to 500 Points. This will result in poor navigation.
FREE Off-line Navigation on your phone
Use our account to download any of the routes in our collection and you will be able to use them off-line for FREE. This is usually only available to RWGPS Premium Account subscribers. This should also work when you access routes through this website. A free RWGPS account is required.
Some GPS navigation devices, including the Garmin eTrex, have a track-point limit to the .gpx files they can store. For this reason breaking up the route file into smaller segments might be necessary.
Some major device issues can occur when trying to record the entire route as one continuous ride . Particularly with Wahoo devices. It is strongly recommended that you stop and save your ride occasionally and then use a program like this to combine them post ride if you want to upload one big ride to Strava.
